Ogawa Kazumasa (1860–1929) was one of the great photographers of nineteenth-century Japan. In 1889 he started a print shop specializing in collotypes, a technique for making prints from photographic negatives. This print of two delicate iris flowers is a reproduction of a collotype which was then colored by hand in 1896.
