This is a photo of a mountain chain on the Antarctic peninsula by the Larsen Ice Shelf. The blue areas in the middle of the photo are meltwater on the ice shelf’s surface caused by warm winds in the late summer. The photo was taken by NASA’s Landsat 8 satellite in early March, 2016 and shows an area about 60 km x 45 km.
